Free heatmap tool for website: the five free plans

Microsoft Clarity is the free heatmap tool for a website with no traffic limit, according to Microsoft, and the other four free plans cap sessions, replays or pages, as read on October 30, 2026. Hotjar is now part of Contentsquare, and new users sign up free on Contentsquare instead.

Microsoft Clarity: free with no traffic limit

Microsoft says Clarity is free forever with no traffic limits and no sampling; its FAQ also caps recording at 100,000 sessions per project per day and each heat map at 100,000 page views. Sites per account are unlimited.

Microsoft's heatmaps overview lists click, scroll, area, conversion and attention maps. Clarity keeps recordings for 30 days, with favorites and a random sample up to 9 months, and heat maps for up to 9 months. Consent should be obtained for users in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, Microsoft says. Is Microsoft Clarity free covers each limit.

Contentsquare's Free plan, where new Hotjar sign-ups now go

Contentsquare says it is no longer possible to create a new account on Hotjar. Contentsquare Free is $0 forever with 200,000 monthly sessions, 1 month of data access and 1 project. A session is a visitor's full journey and ends after 30 minutes of inactivity. Heatmaps and funnels count up to those sessions, while session replays are captured for 5 percent of sessions, up to 10,000 a month. Hotjar's old Free plan captured 35 sessions a day.

Inspectlet, Mouseflow and Plerdy free plans

Inspectlet Free is $0 forever, covers 3 websites and keeps data for 1 month. Its plan card lists 5,000 session replays a month, while Inspectlet's FAQ says its free plan records 2,500 sessions a month across up to 3 websites.

Mouseflow's Free Forever plan covers 500 sessions a month with 1 website project, 1 funnel and 1 month of retention.

Plerdy Free is $0 forever: 100 heatmap page views a day on up to three pages, 500 video sessions in total, which you manage by deleting recordings, and 1 month of storage. Plerdy's FAQ says the Free plan has limited usage of every tool, and its pricing page says AI connectors are not available on it. Is Plerdy free covers the full list.

When a free plan stops being enough

Plerdy add-ons raise one limit without a plan change: +1,000 heatmap page views a day for $9 a month, or +1,000 video session records for $9 a month. Plerdy's FAQ says there are no automatic additional charges when you reach a limit. Startup is $21 a month billed annually, or $32 billed monthly.

Contentsquare Growth starts at $39 a month on yearly payment, or $49 on monthly payment, at 7,000 monthly sessions. At the session limit, Contentsquare says you get no new heatmap or funnel data until the reset date. Inspectlet stops recording new sessions at its monthly limit.
