Microsoft Clarity alternatives: when Clarity stops being enough
The Microsoft Clarity alternatives that keep data longer are Plerdy, Hotjar (now part of Contentsquare), Mouseflow and Fullstory, as read on October 30, 2026. Clarity costs nothing and has no paid plan, so the reason to leave is how long data is kept, or revenue tied to page elements, not price.
Clarity holds recordings for 30 days and heat maps for up to 9 months; only favorite and randomly sampled recordings also last up to 9 months. Microsoft's FAQ also says Clarity does not support excluding page elements from heatmaps. Stay on Clarity if 30 days of recordings covers the pages you review; is Microsoft Clarity free lists what Microsoft documents for the free service.
Each paid price below is the yearly-billing figure per month, and each tool counts usage in its own unit.
| Tool | Cost | Data kept |
|---|---|---|
| Microsoft Clarity | Free, no paid plan | Recordings 30 days (favorites and a sample up to 9 months); heat maps up to 9 months |
| Plerdy Startup | $21 a month billed annually | 3 months; 6 on Thrive; 12 on Enterprise |
| Hotjar on Contentsquare, Growth, 7,000 monthly sessions | $39 a month on yearly payment | Analytics 13 months; replays 2 months |
| Mouseflow Essential, 5,000 monthly sessions | $25 a month on the annual switch | 3 months |
| Fullstory | FullstoryFree, 30,000 monthly sessions; paid plans by quote | 12 months of analytics retention |

Three tools beyond Plerdy have a free plan of their own. FullstoryFree includes 30,000 monthly sessions and 12 months of analytics retention for up to 10 users, and Fullstory says it needs no credit card.
Contentsquare Free, where new Hotjar sign-ups go, is $0 forever with 200,000 monthly sessions and 1 month of data access, but session replays are captured for only 5 percent of sessions, up to 10,000 a month. Mouseflow's Free Forever plan covers 500 sessions a month and keeps data for 1 month.
Plerdy's Free plan is $0 forever and also keeps data for 1 month, so of the four free plans only FullstoryFree keeps data past that, at 12 months of analytics retention. Fullstory's plan table lists scroll maps, click maps and session replay. The free heatmap tool for website guide sets five free plans side by side.
Paid alternatives for longer storage
Plerdy's months of storage is how long it keeps data before automatic deletion. Startup and Scale keep 3 months, Thrive 6 and the Enterprise plans 12. Startup is $21 a month billed annually, or $32 billed monthly; the yearly price is about 35 percent lower.
Contentsquare Growth keeps 13 months of analytics but only 2 months of replays. It starts at $39 a month on yearly payment, or $49 on monthly payment, at 7,000 monthly sessions, where a session is a visitor's full journey and ends after 30 minutes of inactivity. Mouseflow keeps data 3 months on Essential, 6 on Advanced and 12 on Premium, and Essential is $25 a month on its annual switch.
Among the paid plans in the table that print a price, Plerdy Startup has the lowest yearly-billing price per month. Plerdy counts daily heatmap page views and a total of video sessions, while the others count monthly sessions, so compare them in each vendor's own unit. Microsoft Clarity vs Hotjar sets Clarity beside Hotjar on one page.
Store tracking and error monitoring with Plerdy
Plerdy says its e-commerce tracking is designed for online stores and gives each page element a purchase value. Its limit is a daily one: 500 on Startup and 1,500 on Scale. Plerdy says its error monitoring finds broken pages, failed checkouts and form issues, and starts collecting once the tracking script is on the site. Startup shows the top 5 errors with 15 days of history; Thrive shows the top 20 with 60 days.
Pick Plerdy for 3 months or more of storage and per-element purchase tracking. Pick Fullstory for a no-cost plan with 12 months of analytics. Clarity needs no trial, but a move to Plerdy can start with its 14-day trial on the Scale plan's limits.
Consent for visitors from Europe on each tool
Microsoft says consent should be obtained for users in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, and that without it some functions, like funnel tracking and session recordings, might be impacted. Plerdy can be set to start only after a visitor agrees in your consent banner. Its GDPR page says typed form values are masked in the visitor's browser and that Plerdy respects Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track.
