Session replay tools: recordings per plan at a glance
A session replay tool records a visit so you can watch it back. Of the five in the table, Inspectlet Micro allows 10,000 session replays a month at $33 a month, billed annually, and Plerdy Startup keeps 5,000 video sessions in total at $21 a month, billed annually, as read on October 30, 2026. Microsoft Clarity records at no cost. Hotjar is now part of Contentsquare, and new users sign up for free there.
| Plan | Recordings | Recordings kept | Price, annual basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plerdy Startup | 5,000 video sessions in total, managed by deleting | 3 months of data storage | $21 a month, billed annually |
| Inspectlet Micro | 10,000 session replays a month | 2 months | $33 a month, billed annually |
| Crazy Egg Starter | 50 recordings a month | 6 months | $29 a month, billed annually |
| Contentsquare Free | Replays for 5 percent of sessions, up to 10,000 a month | 1 month | $0 forever |
| Microsoft Clarity | Microsoft says no sampling; up to 100,000 sessions per project per day | 30 days; favorites and a sample up to 9 months | Free, no paid plan |
Billed monthly, Plerdy Startup is $32 a month and Inspectlet Micro is $39. Plerdy's 14-day trial records with the Scale plan's 10,000 video sessions, and the Plerdy button on this page starts it.

Each vendor counts a different unit, so read the unit before the price.
- Plerdy counts video sessions as a total limit that you manage by deleting recordings. Extra ones are sold as add-ons from $9 a month per 1,000.
- Inspectlet counts session replays a month, separate from the sessions it samples for heatmaps, and stops recording at the limit.
- Crazy Egg counts recordings a month and pauses collection until the 1st of the next month at the limit.
- Contentsquare Free replays 5 percent of up to 200,000 monthly sessions, at most 10,000 a month.
- Microsoft Clarity says it does no sampling, and its FAQ adds that recordings might not be available for all sessions.
Session recording software for a store's checkout
Record the highest-value page first. Plerdy's recordings page names checkout, trial signup and lead form, and lists cart and checkout errors, hesitation and repeated clicks as what recordings show. Typed form values are blocked.
Because Plerdy counts a total, choose where it records: under Session Replay, Set up, add the pages, then use the Who & when tab for rules by country or user group and a daily number of recordings to keep. Plerdy suggests watching 5 to 10 replays filtered to drop-offs; how to read a website heatmap covers the page itself.
Masked fields and consent in recordings
Plerdy's GDPR page says values typed into form fields are masked in the visitor's browser, that Plerdy can be set to start only after the visitor agrees in your consent banner, and that you choose how long recordings are kept.
Microsoft says consent should be obtained for Clarity users in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, and that without it some functions, funnel tracking and session recordings among them, might be affected.
Which replay tool fits which site
- Inspectlet Micro for a site that wants a monthly allowance: 10,000 session replays a month. Inspectlet vs Hotjar sets it beside the Contentsquare family.
- Plerdy Startup for a shop that wants recordings next to e-commerce tracking and error monitoring in one account, and accepts a total of 5,000 video sessions instead of a monthly count.
- Microsoft Clarity for a site that should pay nothing. Clarity keeps recordings 30 days at $0; the three paid rows keep data 2 to 6 months.
- Crazy Egg Starter for the longest storage among the paid rows, 6 months, at 50 recordings a month. See best heatmap tools for website for the full field.
